Vauxhall Antara were ‘in the day’ a great towing vehicle for caravan owners, ok it was Vauxhall build quality but they did the job, i had a Frontera back in the day and could kill it no matter what i did, it took punishment everyday! The Vauxhall Antara was the replacement with a long stroke 2.2 diesel engine the word ‘lazy’ should have been on the rear badge! The power wasn’t bad actually as ‘stock’ but it just lacked something!
This customer agreed, he uses his Antara to tow a caravan and found it a bit uninspiring to say the least. Plodder i think the term used was, well we have done plenty of these and no, they will never be a Ferrari but there again would you tow a caravan with a Ferrari? (No because it would overheat) So the owner just wanted a bit more horsepower and torque and a bit more of a spirited drive for day to day. We remapped this to our Stg1 which boost’s power +37hp and +80nm torque doesn’t sound massive but the torque curve should be really flat now which means that overtaking manoeuvre should be a lot easier and not so hesitant. MPG should be a little better as well, estimated 5mpg better on fuel!
