Back to the garage in Sutton In Ashfield for another correction on a remap, so this Ford Transit was remapped some years ago, Frank Beckett (garage in Sutton In Ashfield) has been servicing this vehicle for years and it’s always been a problem van!
The owner has replaced a turbo twice, now on third set of injectors and recently had a new engine fitted as the last one blew to pieces! So Frank asked if i could put this motor back to standard as it was ridiculously over powered, so much so it spins it wheels in 3rd gear!
So i didn’t have a 100% match on the ECU file but as we have over 400 Transit ECU files from over the years i did have something that would be close enough, the table above is boost pressure of the turbo, plus it’s in percentage of increase, so whoever remapped this vehicle years ago added 200% boost pressure! That means it was running 3.1bar of boost on a stock turbo that should run around 1.2bar, no wonder it’s chewing through turbo’s every few months.
There were lots of other changes as well throughout the map’s and non of it made any sense, it struck me that someone had copied over a Ford Ranger ECU image onto this Transit image and hoped for the best, we call that an Ebay special! So i copied back all the stock info from a stock Transit file, turned the key and it started straight up! Sounded and ran sweater than it has in a long time, the owner might not like loosing 100hp but i’m pretty sure his wallet will.
