Another Remap in Mansfield yesterday, this Ford Kuga 2016 180hp, these use the same engine as the Focus ST, so they come in a variety of engine output powers from 150hp up to the 180hp in various models, basically all the same engine just with different restrictions on them.
With this being the 180hp standard they don’t gain a great deal +20hp and +50nm of torque, however!
The interesting part is how peaky the torque is in stock mode, plus these are limited on torque per gear as well, so 1st to 3rd and reverse gears are limited to 300nm, so actually the gain in those gears is +150nm which is quite a leap.
If you use one of these as a tow motor, maybe for a caravan etc think of the times you struggle to set of in the lower gears to get up to cruising speed or even town driving, another 150nm of torque might come in fairly handy!
Not only that but rather than the power delivery being peaky (around 2500rpm) we can also smooth that out and aim for a much flatter torque curve, across the rev range, making the vehicle pull harder for longer, these can (limited) be tailored to your needs, the boost pressure map on these is also very ‘spikey’ turbo’s generally don’t like that sort of behaviour, so we can also smooth that out as well, all in all it transforms the drive of your Ford 2.0L Diesel, not matter what it’s fitted in!
